    Major

    The AJ-V6D 3.0 diesel can suffer crankshaft and rear timing-chain wear, especially at higher mileage or with gapped servicing. Verify oil-service history and listen for bottom-end/chain noise on cold start.

  • EGR, inlet manifold sooting and DPF

    Medium

    Short-trip use soots the inlet/EGR and blocks the DPF. Check for limp-mode history, EGR/inlet cleaning and genuine motorway use.

4.4 SDV8 diesel

    The 4.4 SDV8 has a stronger bottom end, but EGR coolers, emissions plumbing and (later) AdBlue/DPF can be costly. Confirm there's no emissions limp-mode history.
